Porter Gilbride Makes Final at Nationals

Townsville swimmer Porter Gilbride is continuing to make his mark on the national swimming stage, recently representing Queensland at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships in Melbourne, where he reached the butterfly finals. Porter followed this with an impressive performance at the State Short Course Championships in Brisbane, qualifying for four finals and finishing fifth in both the 100m and 200m butterfly. Now around halfway through his 12-week preparation for the upcoming State Championships, Porter is balancing a demanding training schedule with his school commitments, including three 4.30am training starts each week, while continuing to achieve strong academic results and recently receiving an academic award. After a well-earned break to recharge, he is back in the pool and focused on the challenges ahead. Team Townsville is proud to support Porter through our athlete scholarship program, recognising the dedication, discipline and commitment he brings to both his sport and his studies. We look forward to following his continued progress and cheering him on as he proudly represents Townsville.
